Six ships of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy are participating in Cleveland Navy Week and the Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and The Star-Spangled Banner August 27-September 4, 2012. A celebration of the nation’s sea services, Cleveland Navy Week and the Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 is one of the signature events held across the United States providing Northeast Ohio residents an opportunity to meet Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and Marines, as well as witness the modern capabilities of today’s maritime services firsthand that help preserve our national security and the American way of life.
De Wert'smission is to provide air, submarine, and surface protection for carrier battle groups, underway replenishment forces, amphibious groups, and convoys.
