Bob Hope sings Thanks for the Memories at Cleveland Indians last game at Municipal Stadium
"Thanks for the Memory" was, of course, Bob Hope's theme song.
At the ceremony at the final Indians game at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on October 3, 1993 he and his wife Dolores sang these special lyrics.
Thanks for the memory.
It's hard to say goodbye,
But we can't deny
Since '31
The job you've done
Each fan will testify.
So thank you so much.
Thanks for the memory.
Of Bob Feller's great fastball.
Al Rosen's hits that cleared the wall.
It's time to go,
But this we know
In history you'll stand tall.
And we thank you so much.
We won't forget
Fly balls caught here,
The popcorn and the peanuts we bought here,
And sportsmanship lessons you taught here.
You've been so swell,
Now it's farewell.
So thanks for the memories.
Of this ballpark's final day,
Though good things must pass away
It will always be in our memory
Each time the Indians play.
They'll always make our hearts cheer
No matter where they play,
And we thank them so much.
