If you lived in Cleveland anytime from 1971to the present you probably know John Lanigan. He was the morning drive DJ at WMJI and also did stints at other Cleveland stations and even a TV show.
This book tells the story of how he grew up in Nebraska and got into radio when he couldn't play football (injury). He then moved to Denver where he learned the business and honed his DJ skills and ideas.
The book tells stories of stunts (both successful and not so much) to draw ratings and industry people he dealt with such as Joe Finan, Don Imus, Howard Stern, Mike Trivisonno and others. In Colorado he had a local musician on his show who played his new song for the first time: John Denver and Take me home Country Roads.
His biggest success came in Cleveland and not only did he do radio but also hosted the Prize Movie where various celebrities would stop by. He tried Tampa but soon returned to Cleveland.
One story is about how Howard Stern was coming after him to be the #1 show in Cleveland and targeted Lanigan's wife, which greatly upset him.
The book is a series of stories chronicling Lanigan's career and some of the interesting people, places and events that came along with it.
