Katie is in love.
She has a beautiful dinner planned for the man she loves. And she has a present for him - a wonderful surprise. But the surprise was on Katie. Instead of a romantic dinner with Matt, she spent the evening in tears, bewildered and hurt because Matt told her he could not see her again.
Still grieving, Katie receives a package from Matt with a diary inside. He didn't expect to fall in love with her, he says, and hopes the diary will explain. Reading the diary takes Katie on a journey - sometimes joyous, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes painful. For the diary is a love story about Matt, and his wife Suzanne, and their son Nicholas.
This is James Patterson's first romance novel. He lived thru a tragic relationship in his twenties; the woman he loved died of a brain tumor. He drew on this experience for the emotional images of his characters. It is definitely a change of pace from his Alex Cross detective series. If you want a good cry, this is the book for you.
