Red, Blotchy Skin when Cold

Q. I have red blotchy skin all over my legs and upper arms that appears especially when I'm cold. I was wondering what it was caused from and how I can prevent it. Thanks a lot for your time.

A. It sounds like (from your description) "physiologic mottling of the skin" for which there is no treatment.

But other conditions such as "levido reticularis" can cause mottling and can be linked to collagen vascular diseases such as Lupus.

So your best bet is to see a dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis.
