Hamstring

Q. I pulled my hamstring about a year ago, and I still feel the effects from time to time. Should I still be going to therapy?

A. Most likely that torn hamstring has "scarred" and created a nice mass of scar tissue.

Assuming there is no other problems, ultrasound may be appropriate to reduce the scar tissue, and a good flexibility program might be able to take some of the strain off of the hamstring.

Believe it or not, your footwear should also be evaluated because if you don't have the right arch support in your shoes, you may be pulling inappropriately on your hamstring with every step!
