Q. How often should I have my oil changed?
A. The old rule of thumb is to change your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles. This is not a bad standard rule, but most cars now have a monitor that will tell you when it's time.
If you drive the car a lot, you may be able to go 7500 miles without an oil change. The new cars (2004) have very sophisticated sensors in the oil pan that are constantly monitoring the condition of the oil in your car.
The more you drive your car, the less often you have to change the oil.
Sound odd? Well that's because driving the car keeps everything moving and lubricated and that's much better for the car.
