Weeping Willow Tree
Miniature growing too Fast

Q: my minature (grafted) weeping willow tree is going beserk. Should i prune some of the larger branches from the top?

A: You can control overgrowth through judicious pruning. If you want to keep the tree in its weeping form, you should remove branches that grow upright, out of contour.

Whether or not you remove large branches is hard to say, but if you have a large branch that grows straight up, I would remove it at its base if possible.

Leave branches that grow up but arch out and downward, as they will form your weeping crown in the future.
